Beginner Group Ride Suggestions

Saturday rides:

Women's Ride out of Niantic Bay Bicycles Shop. Meet at the shop at 8:45am, ride starts at 9:00am. Ride for 30-40 miles at a 13-15mph pace.  (These rides have not started yet this year - stayed tuned!)

 

Sunday rides:

The Mystic Cycle Center has a ride that leaves the shop at 9am. The ride is being listed on their website as recreational.  Some riders use this ride as an endurance ride and continue on for 2-3 hours.

Challenging Group Rides

Saturday rides

  Mystic ride (road ride) at 8:00 am. starting in front of Bartleby's Cafe. Tempo ride, usually 3 to 3-1/2 hours.

 

There is a Westerly ride (road ride) at 8:00 am starting at Brumble Bikes (shop). Up to 3 1/2 hours in duration. The Mystic group frequently rides to Westerly to join this ride.  Ride can be made to drop you off early if need be.  Random routes but usually north.  Could include some dirt roads.  The goal is to keep it together for the most part, weaker riders are expected to make a maximum effort to stay with the group, and better riders are expected to hold back.  If you get really tired, Amos will send you back.  Heavy rain cancels, but plan on Amos going.   Contact amos@brumblebikes.com. This ride appears to be put hold during the road racing season.

Sunday rides

Ride out of Niantic Bay Bicycles Shop. Meet at the shop at 7am, ride starts at 7:15am. Ride for about 2 - 3 hours.  This is a cycle cross ride that is held during the winter.

Tuesday rides

Chip's Plainfield Pain District (PPD) Ride
Description – ~1.5 hour road ride in the hills of Plainfield and Sterling, CT, including climbing intervals and some paceline drills between climbs. Though this ride is designed for faster riders and road racers, the ride regroups at the top of each climb, no one gets dropped or forgotten, and the group ultimately determines the pace. Route to vary every 4 weeks or so, but will feature 3 – 4 climbs each week. Rain cancels.
Start location – Commuter parking lot at Exit 89 (Moosup) on Rt. 395.
Start Time - Roll out at 5:30PM sharp
Start date – Tuesday, April 19th

 

              

Wednesday Rides:

Wednesday night ride (MTB ride) - Where: Bluff Point - Meet: Esker Point Parking Lot, Next to the Fisherman Restaurant on Groton Long Point Rd. in Groton, CT. (I-95 to exit 88, go south on Rt. 117 to the Rt. 1 intersection, turn left on Rt. 1, bear right at the top of  the big hill on to Rt 215, continue until you get near the Fisherman Restaurant on your right.)  When: 6:30pm. Wed. Nights leaves promptly at 6:30 Duration: 2 Hours Steady Pace. No one gets dropped. Cancelations: We will ride in just about anything, but call if unsure Contact: Graham or Rick at the MCC 860-572-7433 (start date?)

 

 

Tuesday ride (road ride) at Brumble bikes, up to 2 1/2 hrs in duration. Head and tail light required. Meet at Brumble Bikes at 5:00pm. Contact Amos Brumble to see if this is a go at  amos@brumblebikes.com

 

v Training Criterium Series at Ninegret Park, Charleston RI.  Races start at 6:00pm.  Info at NBX Bikes.

8 am ride out of Brumble Bikes in Westerly, RI  This is a harder, training ride, usually 3 hours long.  See ride description under challenging rides.


Weekdays

We will be meeting on River Rd in Mystic after work now that the time has changed.  Start time differs between 4 - 5:30 pm.
